Greg started his career in recruitment in
1985, managing the Basingstoke, Woking
and Guildford offices of Accountancy
Personnel before founding Howett Thorpe
in 1988. Greg is a high profile member of
both the local business community and the
recruitment world, but still retains a ‘hands
on’ approach to his business managing
Executive appointments. Outside of Howett
Thorpe Greg spends his time with his
family and playing the occasional
round of golf.
Catherine started her recruitment career
in 1988 within Accountancy recruitment.
Catherine joined Howett Thorpe to
drive the growth of the business and is
responsible for its strategic development.
Catherine brings a wealth of experience to
the business and is excited about taking
Howett Thorpe to each new stage of its
development. Outside of Howett Thorpe
Catherine is busy with her three children
and far too many animals.
Having started her professional career
in finance working as a Management
Accountant for Procter and Gamble,
Julia joined Howett Thorpe in 1999. She
prides herself on providing a quality,
consultative service which cements
long term relationships with both clients
and candidates and has developed
invaluable business networks over
the years. Julia is responsible for the
strategy and management of all individual
financial specialism’s as well as having
personal responsibility for the Senior
Finance Division specialising in qualified
recruitment, retained assignments and
advertising campaigns. Outside of work
Julia can either be found in the gym or
enjoying nice food with friends.
Mark started his career in Finance as an Accountant for an Accountancy Practice before moving into recruitment in 2004. Mark has always operated in the Surrey and Hampshire market and has worked with clients from FTSE listed Companies through to SME’s. Mark specialises in qualified and qualified by experience financial recruitment, retained assignments and advertising campaigns. Mark has built a long standing reputation with clients and candidates through his consultative approach and extensive network within the local market. Mark is a music lover and avid Arsenal fan although with a young family has less time to indulge in his passions!
Julie started working within the recruitment industry in 1998 and has worked across an array of specialism’s including Office Support, HR, Procurement and Accountancy & Finance. Julie is now responsible for the management and strategic growth of Howett Thorpe’s Farnham operation. Julie has experience of providing first class recruitment services to SME clients through to Global Businesses, developing bespoke recruitment solutions to suit volume campaigns and single hires. Julie is proud to be described as a business partner by senior stakeholders within her clients and has established strong and lasting relationships with both candidate and clients. Julie believes whole heartedly in providing the right solution rather than any solution. In her spare time Julie enjoys trying out the next fitness trend or at least talking about it! The execution of the latest fitness trend continues to be a challenge……
Laura has worked in recruitment since 2004 and joined Howett Thorpe in 2010. She has previously recruited across other specialist areas including Recruitment Process Outsourcing which gave her a valuable insight and appreciation of the challenges faced by recruiting companies. She provides an honest, consultative service which is achieved through listening to her clients needs in order to obtain a thorough understanding of their business and culture. Laura is responsible for the Accountancy Support Division and pecialises in part qualified appointments across Surrey and Hampshire. In her spare time she is keen on all things equine related and has previously competed at a local level. She is also a big fan of Bikram Yoga but still has a lot more practicing to do until she resembles a pretzel!
Kathryn joined Howett Thorpe in 2007. Opportunities within Public Practice, Audit & Tax are Kathryn’s primary focus. Kathryn works closely with candidates throughout their careers from graduate and trainee to Director and Partner level, across service lines including Corporate Recovery & Insolvency, Corporate Finance, Corporate and Personal Tax, VAT, Book Keeping & Accounts and of course, Audit (both Internal and External). Kathryn maintains strong relationships with a range of accountancy firms across the South East from Independent Firms to the Top Tier and Big Four and manages a full range of Public Practice accounting jobs on both a permanent and temporary/contract basis. Kathryn enjoys property renovation and is kept busy travelling from our office in the South to her home in the North East.
Richard is a Business Studies Graduate and has been working within the field of Accountancy & Finance recruitment since 1999. Richards’s invaluable experience and success rate is due to his superb ability to build effective long-term relationships, with both clients and candidates. Richard always goes the extra mile to provide a first class customer service. Richard manages Howett Thorpe’s Slough office recruiting both Temporary & Permanent positions from Finance Directors to Accounts Clerks. In his spare time Richard enjoys spending time with his family, Golf and the Guitar.
Ed heads up our HR & Talent Solutions business. He brings 18 year’s recruitment experience to Howett Thorpe, many of which were spent in London recruiting across the City, before moving out to Surrey with his young family in 2010. Ed has worked with SME’s through to global Plc’s delivering professionals across a broad spectrum of industries and has a firm personal focus and interest in retained senior search to Director and Board level.
William commenced his recruitment career in 2014 having been a Golf Professional for the previous 10 years. William now recruits for Accountancy Practices from Independent firms to the Big 6 across Accounts, Tax, Audit and Corporate Finance & Recovery. He is rapidly expanding his network of candidates at all levels through his passion for providing outstanding service and events such as Howett Thorpe Golf days. Away from the office William spends time with his young family, doing DIY and enjoys the occasional non-business related game of golf.
Sam has specialised in Accountancy and Finance recruitment since 2004. Sam has always operated in the Surrey market and has worked with some of the world’s largest brands building teams and developing contacts. Sam has built a reputation providing the highest quality of service to both candidates and clients. Long term client and candidate relationships are Sam’s sole focus. This collaborative approach has resulted in her retaining close business relationships that have spanned over a decade. Sam specialises in the interim and contract market across the Weybridge area. In her spare time Sam enjoys spending time with her family.
Thomas started his recruitment career in 2013 after finishing college with an extended diploma in Business Studies. His recruitment career began within the engineering industry; he gained experience covering the UK and Middle Eastern markets on various appointments. Thomas has always been interested in the finance industry and since joining Howett Thorpe now focuses on transactional level finance throughout Surrey and Hampshire. Thomas’ recruitment principles are based around relationship building and making sure the best solution is provided to both candidates and clients to ensure strong long term relationships are developed and maintained. Thomas is interested in motor-sport and holidays.
Anthony embarked upon his recruitment career in 2013 during his placement year at University. So successful was his internship, Anthony was asked to continue recruiting on a part time basis alongside his final year at University. Upon graduating, Anthony has worked across a number of specialism’s including HR, Office Support, Sales and Accountancy and Finance. Anthony has recruited high volume campaigns alongside complex international recruitment projects. Anthony describes his recruitment style as consultative and informative allowing him to build a solid relationship with both clients and candidates. Anthony is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing sports at competitive and non-competitive level including Golf, Basketball and Football.
Richard started working within the recruitment industry in 2002 and has worked across an array of specialism’s including Accountancy, Pensions & Insurance markets. Richard is now responsible for the management and strategic growth of Howett Thorpe’s Reigate office. He is excited about developing the office to the level he has done in previous roles in London, Sussex and Kent through building long term relationships with clients and candidates and working to a high level of professionalism and standard of service. Richard is a keen sportsman however these days tends to watch more of it than participate in!
Gary started recruiting for qualified and part qualified finance professionals across Surrey and Sussex in 2005 and has built a reputation within the market of providing an honest, transparent and consultative service. Working with a wide range of clients from FTSE 100 listed businesses through to local SME’s, Gary works as a recruitment business partner with his clients, ensuring he gains a full understanding of their needs and the business culture. Gary is a firm family man with 4 children to keep him busy and is a keen sportsman, having followed Chelsea FC throughout his life.
Cheryl started working within recruitment in 2008 specialising in Accountancy and Finance across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. She prides herself in her thorough, consultative approach and excellent service standards. Cheryl is responsible for the Part-Qualified and Qualified by Experience financial recruitment, partnering with SME clients through to Global businesses. Out of the office, Cheryl enjoys spending time with family and getting up to mischief with her young son.
Edward started his recruitment career back in 1992 and quickly progressed from Consultant through to a Regional Director. He has subsequently recruited across a number of different specialism’s including M&E, Commercial, Executive Search, Procurement and Finance. Edward has joined Howett Thorpe to focus solely on the permanent qualified finance market covering Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. He has recruited for SME organisations right through to Blue Chip corporates. Outside of work Edward is a long suffering West Ham fan, he is a keen golfer although his handicap is going north!!
Pippa has worked for Howett Thorpe since 1997 and is an integral part of the business, managing our most business critical areas. Pippa is responsible for payroll for temporary staff, IT and Admin support, Human Resources and compliance. Pippa enjoys the versatility of her role and is always available to help her colleagues and provides an exemplary level of support. In her spare time, whilst not looking after everyone at Howett Thorpe Pippa looks after her two girls and enjoys long walks with the dog!
Karen stated her career working in the Bank of England and remained there for 17 years working within IT, where she helped set up the computer software system for the stock exchange which went live in summer 1990. After a period of time bringing up her children she decided it was time for a career change to do something that had always interested her and started work with Howett Thorpe in the Finance Department. Having studied for her AAT she now carries out all aspects of accounting from payroll, to producing the monthly accounts. Karen loves to go on adventurous holidays where she cycles or hikes across countries such as India.
