About The Role

The role, officially known as the Financial Controller, will be responsible for the Balance Sheet Control for this NHS trust; ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive and effective financial accounting and controls function within the Trust. As the Financial Controller, your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the timely completion of the Trust’s annual accounts
  • Control the Balance Sheet accounts production including reconciliation of the balance sheet codes
  • Control and maintain the chart of accounts in respect of the balance sheet
  • Present the Balance Sheet, Cash and Financial Accounts to the Executive Board
  • Monitor cashflow on a daily basis and produce monthly cashflow forecasts
  • Provide leadership across multiple areas of the Trust relating to Financial Accounts and Balance Sheet Accounts
  • Support, supervise and manage a team that contribute to the production of the accounts

About You

To apply for this role we are looking for an individual that has the capability and drive to provide inspirational leadership to the Financial Accounting and Controls team, you will have the ability to work autonomously, manage and support the team to achieve their potential and participate in the financial directorship team to drive organisational change as and where needed. We are looking for the following skills, experiences and capabilities to be successful with an application:

  • Ideally, we would like a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) but we are open to QBE and Part Qualified applications
  • Experience of managing a team and getting the best out of their skills and experiences
  • Experience of controlling the Balance Sheet is essential, this is a key element for the role
  • Good analysis skills to look at performance and how it impacts the Trust
  • We are looking at applications from Commerce and Industry as well as individuals with previous NHS experience for this role, totally open on background
