Finance Assistant – About The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager you will be responsible for the operation of the purchase ledger, processing invoices in a timely and accurate manner. In addition, you will be required to process purchase requisitions, raising and placing orders with suppliers.
Key responsibilities:
- Process purchase requisitions, raising and placing purchase orders with suppliers in a timely manner.
- Code, enter and process supplier invoices, staff expenses and credit notes
- Set-up and process BACS payments ensuring compliance with supplier payment terms
- Send remittance advices
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Post bank transactions relating to purchase ledger including direct debits
- To be the first point of contact regarding supplier payment queries
- Assist with the production of accrual and prepayment listings for period and year-end accounts
- Assist the Finance Manager with one-off projects and reports as required
The successful Finance Assistant will have/be:
- Good general level of education, including Maths and English GCSE A-C (9-5)
- Strong knowledge and working experience of purchase ledger
- Understanding of cost centre accounting
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Organised and able to work in a busy, high volume environment
