HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has published a report which shows a significant number of small businesses are concerned that they are not ‘on their side’.
The report, ‘Understanding Small Businesses’ Experience Of The Tax System’, shows that 11 per cent of small firms objects to the tone of communication from HMRC representatives. 70 per cent also stated that they do not feel HMRC has a genuine interest in helping them as a small enterprise.
The report also showed that 30 per cent of people have difficulty making sense of the information they are given by HMRC, while just 45 per cent are confident that the department answers their questions correctly.
