Top tips for standing out on paper and in person
Making a great first impression when applying for a job is no longer confined to the CV and covering letter. Your first point of contact with a potential employer could now be on social media – for example, through LinkedIn. Even when you apply for a role in the traditional way, the employer may check out your Facebook profile or Google you before they decide whether to shortlist your application.
Here, we share our tips for making a great first impression on paper when applying for jobs and in person when attending an interview.
Friendly, professional, prompt responses and if Alex was not available, I always had another contact. Alex discussed candidates and did not push for an interview if we felt the candidate did not fit our requirements
Julie was always available when needed and the timings were good. The candidates sent were suitable for our requirements. If I needed help with recruitment again, I would not hesitate to work with Howett Thorpe.
100% – again another well-matched candidate. The whole accounts department now consists of HT candidates.
Excellent service – this was a textbook exercise in how to recruit for a client properly.
Great quality CVs and a pleasure to work with. Would definitely use Howett Thorpe again.
Julie Mott and Laura before her have always just got us. They know the type of person that works and that doesn’t. Julie is a very real individual, and I enjoy working with her when the opportunities arise.
Excellent service as usual! Wouldn’t use another agency – Howett Thorpe is the only agency that doesn’t harass me every other week!
Very helpful and prompt in arranging suitable candidates.
