Chartered Fellow Accountant (ACCA) with 14 years’ experience both as number 1 and number 2 in Finance across businesses operating in the Professional Services sector, with between £10m-25m turnover. Track record of management and development of teams of 4 with a particular interest in team development, process redesign, budgeting and forecasting.

Currently has reporting responsibility for a Professional Services international business with focus on Houston, Dubai and the UK.  Experience incorporates the law, financial services and asset management industries and as such has had to work within compliant environments outside of the normal accounting and finance standards.

Exposure includes:

  • Identification, production and presentation to non-financial Partners of reports to help decision making, understanding of results and firm profitability. Reporting on things such as:
    • Billing rate analysis to find areas where rates could be improved
    • Trend analysis of inter-office revenue sharing, identifying skills and resource gaps
    • Utilisation of fee earners to understand work distribution across the firm
  • Review and redesign of financial and operational procedures to remove inefficiencies and increase accuracy
    • Payroll was simplified and automated, leading to more accurate records and statutory pension submissions moving from meeting deadlines 75% of the time, to 100% of the time
    • Restructure of daily bank reconciliation process, resulting in production of reconciliations a day earlier
    • Suggested improvements to firmwide financial dashboard to improve variance analysis and reporting of aged debts
  • Production of London and Dubai budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
    • Revenue budgets utilised assumptions over fee earner utilisation, billing realisation and billing rates, driven by historic trends and future expectations
    • Redesigned travel and expense budget process to achieve a more accurate estimate and control of spend
  • Led project to source a new payroll bureau, resulting in 65% cost reduction, a greater level of customer service and improved accuracy in statutory returns
  • Cash management for London and Dubai offices, resulting in lower levels of interest paid on loans
  • Management of all International Finance areas including management and statutory accounts, budgets, forecasts, payroll, pension scheme and employee benefits
